The past year has been complex and unlike anything we’ve dealt with before, and the Blue Water
Sportfishing Association wasn’t immune. Still, BWSA did its best to offer its club
members the benefits it could.
In 2020 we awarded $3,200 to top placing club tournament members, continued the newsletter, held a
picnic, gave $500 to the top placing club member in the Port Huron Walleye Classic, and awarded $900 to
the BIG Fish contest winners. In a “normal” year, the Blue Water Sportfishing Association offers the
following:
-Entry into our club tournaments where there is $3,200 in cash prizes given away.
-Entry into our Big Fish contest, which has 3 $200 prizes and 1 $300 prize.
-BWSA built and maintains the fish cleaning station in Port Huron.
-SALMON STAKES TOURNAMENT
-Club picnic
-Club Newsletter Club Christmas party
-$500 to the top placing member boat in the PH Walleye Classic and Kings of Spring Salmon Tournament.
-Donate annually to the Coalition to Protect Michigan’s Resources.
-Donated knives to Mid-City Nutrition
-Donated $25,000 to MSU graduate student to focus on improving fisheries creel data.
-Key contributor in making the Coho salmon and the Atlantic salmon plants happen.
We would like to continue to offer these benefits and more to club members, but in order to do so, the
BWSA board of directors had to make a change. Beginning this year, we are ending the membership given
to those who attend the Fishing Forever Banquet. The cost of everything to host this excellent event has
gone up and we need to use all ticket proceeds to pay for the event.
On June 1, 2021, memberships obtained by purchasing a Fishing Forever ticket will expire. If you
purchased a membership outside of Fishing Forever, this does NOT apply to you. The cost of a club
membership is $30 per year and is good for 1-year from the date of purchase.
The Blue Water Sportfishing Association looks forward to offering its members the benefits highlighted
above and more, but doing so requires your support. We hope that you will continue to support the club by
